Preparation

American Assay preps and handles a wide variety of samples including, rocks, core, soils, composites and slurries. We have automatic and manual core saws available for the various hardness of core. AAL has large-volume natural gas drying ovens with adjustable temperatures for volatile elements. Our prep department includes a jaw crush, roll crush, jones riffle split, rotary split and ring mill pulverization. There are multiple quality control checks during rock preparation to verify strict particle size. Prep is consistently cleaned and has proper ventilation to minimize dust exposure. Preparation is fundamental to providing a homogeneous fine dry pulp, which ideally represents the sample at large. Preparation generates a reproducible sample ready for chemical analysis.
