Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES)
What is ICP-oes?
ICP-OES is an analytical technique used to detect and quantify metals and some non-metals. This instrument is a type of emission spectroscopy that uses the inductively coupled plasma to produce excited atoms and ions. The atoms and ions emit electromagnetic radiation at wavelengths characteristic to a particular element. The intensity of this emission is indicative of the concentration of the element within the sample.
Agilent 5110 ICP-OES
AAL uses Agilent 5110 ICP-OES series due to the unmatched performance for cutting-edge detection limits and reliable accuracy. The instrument has an ecosystem of embedded sensors, capable of improving maintenance and recommending the best analytical wavelengths to use. ICP-OES can identify up to 70 elements and is especially useful for trace and light elements such as Arsenic (As) and Lithium (Li). It is used for the following digestions:
- Fire Assay
- Cyanide Digestion
- 4-Acid & Boric Digestion
- 2-Acid Digestion
- Sodium Fusion
- Hydro-Geochemistry
- Copper Leach
